How To Save Your Dry Mascara

When it comes to makeup, I am very picky on where I splurge and where I save. There is just a little part of me that cringes every time I have to spend $50 on new foundation even though I know it’ll last me three months. Like, that could’ve bought me a Nozawa at Sugarfish and instead I’m spending it on essentials.

Although I love good makeup products, I also love finding great drugstore items as well. Mascara is one thing that I bounce back and forth between more prestige brands & drugstore brands. I love Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and Tarte’s Light Camera Lashes, but recently I have been religiously using L’Oreal Lash Paradise.

I don’t know about you, but mascara tends to only last me about a month and a half. I was getting so tired of constantly buying mascara and knew that there had to be a way to prevent it from drying That’s when I discovered a great little hack that makes your mascara last twice as long.

So here’s my secret. When your mascara starts to get dry, put about 5-6 drops of contact solution into your tube of mascara. I usually drop them in, close the tube and shake it up a bit. When you go to use it again, your mascara will be fresh to use again! I will do this about two or three times before finally tossing it out and getting a replacement. It really extends the length of how long it can last you and ensures that you are getting use out of the most product as possible.

If you don’t wear contacts, grabbing a small bottle of solution will be totally worth the purchase. I don’t wear them so I just steal a few drops of my boyfriend’s solution whenever I’m in need (shh, don’t tell him).

So there you have it! The most simple way to make your mascara last twice as long. This means less trips to the store, less money spent on makeup essentials and more money to spend on sushi.

Try it out and let me know what you think!
