Hacks For Shopping On Amazon

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Amazon is slowly…okay okay quickly taking over the world. I for one, am on board for it all and have been a loyal Amazon Prime shopper for years now. There is nothing better than having access to order pretty much anything you can imagine and it arriving at your doorstep in 1-2 days. Convenience at its finest.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I love going out and physically shopping. But in reality & in this day and age, no one’s got time for that. I barely even have time to grocery shop (haven’t gone to Prime Pantry JUST yet).

What many people don’t realize is that there is more to Amazon than Echos, electronics, and $5 phone cases. It has actually become one of my favorite places to shop for clothing & shoes. I have purchased so many wonderful things from Amazon including high-quality bikinis under $20, Sam Edelman boots for practically nothing, and the amazing pink teddy coat I’m wearing in this post.

Amazon has SO many items in clothing & fashion alone; the options are endless. Lucky for you I have mastered how to get through the nonsense to shop for great (and usually discounted) fashion on Amazon & I’m going to share everything I’ve learned so you can take advantage of all that Amazon has to offer!

Shop Prime
If you are not a Prime member, please stop reading this and go sign up. It will be your best purchase of 2018. If you are a Prime member, then please carry on. For those who don’t know, Amazon Prime is a yearly membership that gives you free shipping (typically 2-day) on thousands and thousands of items. Possibly even millions. Prime members also have access to same day and next day delivery for a small price or even free, depending on the item. It is quite possibly the greatest thing that happened to the internet. Are you all out of Nespresso pods but need your caffeine fix? Amazon Prime. Same day delivery. Did your dog chew his bed up and you need to get a replacement? Prime has got you covered. Need an outfit for the upcoming weekend but don’t have time to shop? Prime has your problem solved.

(disclaimer: examples above may or may not have happened to me)

Use The Filters
Using the filters on the left side of the screen is the best way to get rid of the products you won’t be interested in. I try and use as many as possible to narrow down my search, but leave a little opportunity for some unexpected items to end up in my results. I ALWAYS click the Prime option and then depending on what I’m looking for I decide on the rest. I usually set a maximum for the price (to keep things in my budget) & only have it show items rated 4 stars or higher (to get rid of bad quality pieces), which brings me to my next point…

Read Reviews
Even though something could be rated 5 stars, make sure you read plenty of the reviews on an item before ordering. For one, you want to make sure you are selecting the right sizing option to minimize your risk of having to return. BUT unfortunately Amazon sellers are getting sneaky and faking reviews. Make sure to read them carefully. If the sentence doesn’t make total sense, there’s several comments saying VERY similar things, or the name of the customer seems fishy, it’s probably a fake review. It’s usually pretty easy to tell what’s been faked and what’s authentic, but definitely make sure you check before making a purchase!

Check The Policies
Even though you’re shopping Prime, it’s important to check return policies. I will say 99% of the time it’s free shipping & returns, but every once in a while you will get something from a weird vendor that makes you pay for returns. Nothing is more frustrating than buying a $10 shirt and the company charges $8 shipping to return it. I have learned my lesson on that. Always always always make sure you know their policies before ordering so you know the risk if something doesn’t end up working out.
