How To Step Up Your Style In 2018

Happy New Year everyone! I think its safe to say that 2017 FLEW by for most of us. To be honest I am so glad it is over because I am beyond ready for a fresh start.

2018 is the year for taking chances & what’s a better way to incorporate that than by spicing your wardrobe choices? It is time for all of us to get out of our bubble and try new things with our personal styles, and I have some tips to help you stand out and look incredible this year.

Find New Inspiration
Inspiration is all around us when it comes to fashion. In magazines, on social media, at the local coffee shop, you name it. I recommend making a mood board of new trends that you want to try so you can refer back to it whenever you want to buy something new. I for one hate having clutter at home, so instead of a physical mood board I create a Pinterest board for style inspo! Whenever I’m in the mood to shop I look at it for new items to buy and new ideas for styling. It keeps me motivated to try new trends.

Clean Out Your Wardrobe
This may seem like backtracking, but cleaning out your closet is so important when you are trying to boost your style. Going through and donating or selling your old things will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for new pieces. Plus, now you’ll have extra room for even more new clothes.

Think Before You Buy
When you’re finally ready to make the jump into new things, make sure you think before you buy. There are so many times where I have gone to buy something and I have to think back on what I already own. Do I really need ANOTHER pair of ripped skinny jeans? Probably not. Instead I’d purchase a different style to add some variety in my wardrobe. Always make sure you are adding versatile pieces into your wardrobe that will be cohesive with the rest of your things so you have plenty of styling options.

Don’t Be Afraid To Take Risks
The most important thing when it comes to changing up your style or incorporating new trends is to not be afraid of taking chances. The older I get, the less I care what people think of me & my style. You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, after all. So take risks! Buy the top you never thought you could see yourself in. Wear your fanciest heels to the grocery store. Do whatever makes YOU happy because life’s too short to do otherwise.
